County-Wide Histories

  • History of Klamath County, Oregon: Its Resources and People (1941), Linsy Sisemore, editor-in-chief; Rachel Applegate Good, historian - a detailed description of the history of the Klamath Basin through 1940; includes biographical sketches.  
  • History of Klamath Country, Oregon (1984), published by the Klamath County Historical Society - submitted family histories are the main focus; also includes review articles on historical topics about the Klamath Basin covering activities up to the 1980s.  
  • Illustrated History of Central Oregon embracing Wasco, Sherman, Gilliam, Wheeler, Crook, Lake and Klamath Counties, State of Oregon (1905) - a detailed description of the history of the Klamath Basin; includes biographical sketches.  
  • Janis Kafton Klamath County Collection (1905-2000) - collection is organized by family, location, business, and organization. It is made up of documents, photocopies, newspaper clippings, handwritten notes, audio cassette tapes, card files, sketches, maps, and photographs. Janis Kafton was a Klamath County educator and amateur historian.
