The Klamath Tribes

The First Peoples

"We are the Klamath Tribes - the Klamath, the Modoc and the Yahooskin-Paiute people, known as mukluks and numu (the people)."

The first peoples moved into the Klamath Basin area more than 14,000 years ago. Descendants of those groups later became known as the Klamath, Modoc and Yahooskin Peoples. These groups are now recognized as the Klamath Tribes.
