BIO 209: Current Research Topics in Medical Science


Introduces students to topics in medicine focusing on global health issues, infectious and chronic diseases. Projects in medical literature research, understanding scientific paper format, preparing technical presentations and public speaking.  


  • Research a current topic in medical science in order to give a 20-25-minute presentation on the topic.
  • To find relevant up-to-date scholarly articles on your topics, use the databases in this Course Guide.
  • Start with a general interest database, like Academic Search Complete.
  • Then go to a subject-specific database like CINAHL to retrieve articles from medical journals and to apply more criteria to your search statement.
