Best Databases to Try

Knovel
Knovel supports engineering research projects. It contains technical reference material, conference proceedings, reports, materials property data, regulatory information, and more. It can be searched by material name to retrieve property data, and it has an interactive equation tool, unit converter, and more. It also contains ASM Handbooks.

Engineering Village
Contains Compendex -- THE engineering database for locating articles, conference proceedings, and technical reports. You can do very powerful searching -- but it only points you to article summaries, so use the Find It @ Oregon Tech links next to each article to obtain options for full text.

American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) journals
Access to ASME's Transaction Journals from 1960 to the present.

IEEE Xplore Digital Library
Provides access to hundreds of full-text journals and conference papers in electrical engineering, electronics, and computer science. Also publishes materials on data science, embedded systems, geomatics, health informatics, manufacturing, medical devices, and robotics. Note: Oregon Tech is entitled to a maximum of 900 full text article views per year.

Engineering Workbench (Accuris)

A comprehensive database to search and discover standards in your subject area(s). After identifying a standard you'd like to access, contact the library at libtech@oit.edu for assistance acquiring the full text.

Some full-text. Indexes international and English-language periodicals, covering chemistry, engineering, mathematics, physics, computer technology, and energy-related disciplines. Includes articles, interviews, meetings, conferences, exhibitions, new product reviews/announcements, and more. Covers 1983 - present.

ENG Trail: Technical Report Archive & Image Library
The Technical Report Archive & Image Library (TRAIL) identifies, acquires, catalogs, digitizes and provides unrestricted access to U.S. government agency technical reports.

Academic Search Complete
This scholarly collection offers information in nearly every area of academic study. It provides full text for more than 4,650 journals, including full text for more than 3,900 peer-reviewed titles. PDF backfiles to 1975 or further are available for well over one hundred journals, and searchable cited references are provided for more than 1,000 titles.

Google Scholar enables you to search specifically for academic research including journal articles, books, technical reports, conference proceedings, and other scholarly material. Make sure you visit Settings and set Oregon Tech as your library so you have easier access to articles for free.
